About
In 2008, the first annual Northborough Turkey Trot started in founder Rita Matraia’s driveway. The town of Northborough didn’t have its own race, so Matraia, a personal trainer and owner of the Core Connection, and friend Maggie Kosovsky decided to start their own. The first race was a casual gathering of 30 friends and family, running through Matraia’s Northborough neighborhood.
The Northborough Turkey Trot has outgrown its humble beginnings. Each Thanksgiving morning, close to 1,000 runners and walkers gather at the Marion E. Zeh school on Howard Street in Northborough to raise money for the Northborough Food Pantry. Over the years, the Turkey Trot has raised more than $65,000 for the Northborough Food Pantry. This year, we are proud to support the Northborough Police Association.
